Read Carlson's Bio

Julia Florek Carlson is a recent graduate from the University of Notre Dame, where she earned her BS in Biochemistry. She previously worked in the Stack Lab at Notre Dame’s Harper Cancer Research Institute, where she studied and wrote a thesis on the expression and regulation of human endogenous retroviruses in ovarian cancer.

Carlson's research interests include the genetic modulation of signaling pathways and metabolic dysregulation in disease. Beyond research, she enjoys playing the violin, running, rock climbing and taking her dog Louie for walks. She is excited to return to her hometown of Chicago after college.

Research Technician (2024)

Read Christopher's Bio

Christopher worked on both the poison exon project and the joint research endeavor between the Parvez lab and Brian Mitchell’s Lab. Christopher worked with the Xenopus model to better understand cilia development in tropical frogs and apply micdrop technology to this research. On the poison exon project he worked to screen for conserved poison exon regions and relevent genes between humans and zebrafish.
