Genomics-driven insights into bacterial persistence and pathogenesis.

The Bacterial Omics & Pathogenesis Lab at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, led by Alexandra Grote, PhD, investigates how bacterial pathogens adapt during infection to persist, evade the host immune system and resist treatment.

We integrate comparative genomics, transcriptomics (including dual RNASeq), epigenomics and functional genetics to pinpoint the microbial and host factors that drive disease. Our goal is to translate mechanistic insights into better diagnostics and therapies.
